A different falafel experience in heart of Philly

Back in Philly... what am I craving? Nope.. wrong answer definitely not cheesestake!! :)  but something as filling as cheesesteak. The other night, Evan and I went to  try Maoz Vegetarian to try their popular falafels. Inside was much more different from what I had expected a falafel restaurant to be. You know, falafel places, at least in my experience, have never given me the clean feel that I would expect from a restaurant/cafe. But, I am fine with that because just like you wouldn't expect the ultimate hygiene from other fast food places, I wouldn't expect much from a falafel place as well. Somehow, Maoz Vegetarian gave me a clean feel. But I digress...
Maoz Vegetarian in Philly is on a busy street that most probably allows it to get many drunk people. You can tell from the hours they are open until Friday and Saturday, from 11:00 am until 3:00 am. Just like the PitaPit of Lancaster for drunk college kids! (admittedly, I was included in that group)
Maoz Vegetarian, has an open buffet style.. You pick the main dish from the menu and the fill it in with whatever you want from the salad bar. So, Evan and I got a meal deal (which comes with the falafel sandwich+ eggplant+hummus+Belgian Fries on the side and a beverage) and a Salad Meal Deal, which may or may not  have been a mistake. Hey, we constantly make the mistake of ordering too much though! I was in charge of the so called "stuffing process", which meant putting everything I can possibly find in front of me in the pita or on the salad.  In this process, we encountered something bad.  The green sauce on the left side of the bar, turned out to be very very very hot! So, if you insist on trying please don't put as much as I did.
I was not a huge fan of these fries and I wouldn't necessarily want to have fries with falafel, but it seemed to be popular among other people. (with Evan too!) The Garlic sauce went well with everything, including the belgian fries!
I'm saying this a definitely a good shot for entry levels in Philly, since the prices are reasonable and the food is tasty! Yes, the ambiance is definitely not a true falafel experience and that's why I titled this entry "A different falafel experience"! But, it is worth the try, especially when drunk! ;)
